CP and Alstom/DST Contract Signed
Acquisition of 117 Electric Multiple Units (EMUs)
The contract between CP (Comboios de Portugal - the Portuguese train operator) and the Alstom/DST consortium has been signed for the purchase of 117 Electric Multiple Units, the supply of the corresponding spares inventory (or stock of spare parts), and the construction of a rolling stock maintenance workshop in Guifões.
Representing an investment of 746 million euros, with co-financing of 117.6 million euros from European funds and 212.5 million euros from the Environmental Fund, this is the largest investment in rolling stock acquisition in the Company's history. It encompasses the supply of 62 units for urban services (or commuter services) and 55 for regional services. Delivery of the first units is scheduled for 2029.
CP is studying measures to bring forward the delivery schedule for the multiple units and to activate the option for the acquisition of a further 36 units for the urban services.
The contract will now follow the usual procedures, being forwarded to the Court of Auditors.
