Half-price children’s tickets*
Take the kids out for half price.
Children up to and including three years of age travel free when accompanied by an adult, provided they share a seat.
If they are aged between four and twelve years (inclusive), they are entitled to a 50%* discount on the standard fare (half-price ticket) and to their own seat.
On the Celta international service, children are entitled to a 40% discount.
*Up to 50% off Alfa Pendular and Intercidades fares, with amounts rounded up to the nearest 50 cêntimos.
To travel free of charge or to get a discount that requires proof of age, kids must present an official identity document at the ticket office and on the train.
Certified copies bearing an official stamp from parish councils, CTT – Correios de Portugal, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, solicitors or notaries are accepted.
Documents presented via the id.gov.pt app are also accepted as official. For verification purposes, the customer must allow CP staff access to their device; the necessary electronic means for this purpose must be available on site, namely, the device must have internet access.
