Cascais Line

Changes services

Since 6 April, as progress on the railway infrastructure modernisation project has advanced, work has focused on the section between Caxias and Cascais.

During periods of total rail traffic closure, we provide a replacement bus service that stops at Cascais, Monte do Estoril, Estoril, S. João do Estoril, S. Pedro do Estoril, Parede, Carcavelos, Oeiras, Santo Amaro, Paço de Arcos and Caxias.

This service runs from Monday to Friday from 9:50 p.m., on Saturdays from 8:50 p.m., and on Sundays between 5:30 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. and from 7:50 p.m.

At all other times, train services will run as usual.

Due to the modernisation works on the Cascais Line, the following changes will come into effect from 8 November 2026:

New schedules: on weekdays, trains currently running between Cais do Sodré and Oeiras will now start and end their journey at São Pedro do Estoril.
Changes at Oeiras station: due to the ongoing works, boarding and alighting points may differ from the usual ones, depending on the stage of the works.
Passengers should check their train’s departure platform and follow the signage and directions provided at the station.
Replacement bus services between Caxias and Cascais remain unchanged, with the current timetables and conditions still in force.

Replacement bus service journey times may vary depending on traffic conditions
On the Cascais – Cais do Sodré route, connections to scheduled trains at Caxias Station are only guaranteed for the last train of the evening.

- You can also check stop locations at Customer Assistance Offices and CP ticket offices.
- Passengers must have a valid ticket when boarding buses operating the replacement bus service.
- Please validate your ticket using the validators located at the entrances to the replacement buses. Validation of all travel passes, season tickets and single tickets is compulsory.
- Buses operating on behalf of CP will be clearly marked and equipped with access ramps for passengers with reduced mobility.
- Buses can accommodate small pets when they travel in a suitable carrier that can be carried as hand luggage.
- Buses cannot accommodate passengers with group tickets on the replacement bus service.
