Bioria train circuits

Daily programmes with guided tours travelling on the Porto urban trains.

Discover Bioria by train. This project was set up in the Ria de Aveiro (estuary) and Baixo Vouga to conserve nature and biodiversity, restore and requalify the environment, and raise environmental awareness and education, based on sustainable development principles.
Board the Porto Urban Trains, bound for Estarreja, Salreu or Canelas, and take guided tours using various nature trail options.
Guided group visits must be booked with us. Free visits are also available.
See detailed information about the programmes.

The Salreu Trail crosses marshland and farmland, essentially rice paddies, which are beautiful. The circular trail begins and ends near the Bioria Environmental Interpretation Centre.
Take the train, get off at the Salreu station and start your visit.

The Jardim - Canelas River Trail follows part of the stream's banks that flows into the Ria de Aveiro and passes through various characteristic habitats. Along the 2-kilometre, ‘U’ shape trail, you can enjoy beautiful landscapes and habitats and take in the shady area provided by the trees along the banks of the Rio Jardim.
The trail starts and finishes on the track parallel to the railway line to the west, which connects the Esteiro de Canelas to Salreu.
Take the train, get off at the Salreu station and follow the signs (500 metres to the south).

In the parishes of Salreu and Canelas, the Bocage Trail starts at the Ribeiro de Canelas, follows the stream, and ends 100 metres north of the start of the Rio Jardim trail. You'll walk along the 4 kilometres in a ‘U’ shape and see various habitats characteristic of this magnificent region, where a rural mosaic called ‘Bocage’ stands out.
Learn about the main species found here, described on the information panels, and use the leisure facilities distributed along the route.
Take the train, get off at the Canelas stop and see the signs to the west (300 metres to the south).

Discovering the banks of the River Antuã is one of the challenges of this nature trail in the parishes of Salreu and Beduído. The 6-km-long, circular circuit starts near Largo do Esteiro de Estarreja and follows the main river.
See some of the traditional activities of the region and many of the countless animal and plant species that live there. In addition to this natural wealth, you'll enjoy beautiful landscapes and habitats, some of which are unique to this fantastic lagoon wetland.
Take the train, get off at Estarreja station and follow the signs to the west (500 metres to the south).

Visitors must pay CP for the train journeys. The guided tours are paid at the site:
