Free youth passes

Young people between the ages of 4 and 23 can get a free pass to use on CP to travel on urban (Porto, Lisbon and Coimbra), regional and inter-regional trains.

Students up to the age of 24 on integrated study programmes, such as Architecture and Urbanism, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine, are also covered.

Although free of charge, the pass must be topped up.

CP Services: Lisbon urban trains | Porto urban trains | Coimbra urban trains | Regional and InterRegional

Beneficiaries:

  • Young people aged 4 to 23 (until the last day of the month in which they turn 24).
  • Students in higher education up to and including the age of 24, attending courses with an integrated study cycle, namely Architecture and Urbanism, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, Dental Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

Each young person can only apply for one free pass, and cannot benefit from more than one pass at the same time for:

  • a Metropolitan Area;

If they want to use the train to travel between the Metropolitan Area of Porto and an Intermunicipal Community (CIM) or to travel between two neighbouring CIMs, they must provide:

  • Proof of habitual residence (can be obtained from the Tax Authority portal),
  • Proof of enrolment at a national educational establishment, valid for the current academic year, or proof of address of place of work.
