CP - Comboios de Portugal has taken a significant step forward in the implementation of the project financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), through the Environmental Fund, which provides for the implementation of a wide range of measures to improve energy and water efficiency in the Contumil Central Building.
The civil construction contract to implement energy efficiency measures in the Contumil Central Building was officially awarded and the contract signed on 11 March 2025, marking a crucial moment for the sustainable modernisation of CP's buildings within the sustainability principles of its Environmental, Quality, Safety and Social Responsibility Policy, which involves:
This progress stems from the approval of a request for financial and time reprogramming, which provides for an increase in the eligible investment, previously set at €232,515.00, to an updated amount of €293,221.84. At the same time, the project's completion date has been adjusted from 31 August 2024 to 31 December 2025, thus allowing the work to be better aligned with the established timetable.
This initiative is part of a series of actions designed to bolster CP's environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Implementing the measures will help reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, in line with the company's commitments under the European climate targets.
The signing of the contract means the execution phase of the contract will now follow, with a deadline of 300 days, which will include the installation of innovative, technologically advanced solutions to optimise the building's energy efficiency:
CP will continue to be committed to implementing the project, ensuring that all the work will be carried out on time and to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
The implementation of this project reflects CP's ongoing commitment to innovation, energy transition and sustainable development.
