CP celebrates the 50th anniversary of 25 April with the ‘Freedom Train’

As a way of honouring the 50th anniversary of 25 April, a milestone for democracy and freedom in our country, CP - Comboios de Portugal announces that the ‘Freedom Train’ will be running from tomorrow. This project not only celebrates history, but also reinforces CP's commitment to mobility and national culture.

The ‘Freedom Train’ is an Alfa Pendular train that will make its maiden voyage on 25 April 2024, departing from Porto - Campanhã at 7.32 a.m. and arriving in Lisbon - Santa Apolónia at 10.30 a.m.. This decorated train will run regularly until 31 December 2024, offering passengers a reflective experience on the importance of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal's history.

The train's decoration is inspired by the symbols of 25 April, with stylised red carnations and phrases adorning the exterior of the carriages. This visual theme not only draws attention to the historical importance of the date, but also celebrates the continuity of the values of freedom and progress and reaffirms CP as a promoter of Portuguese culture.
