CP - Comboios de Portugal presents: Grape harvest festival

CP - Comboios de Portugal has a special programme dedicated to celebrating the grape harvest season, offering participants a unique experience in the heart of the Douro Wine Region.

Dates and route: The adventure takes place on 9 and 23 September, with a special train made up of Schindler carriages travelling between Porto Campanhã/Pinhão and Régua/Porto Campanhã. The train is scheduled to leave at 8:00 a.m. and return at 8:26 p.m.

Prices: Adult tickets cost €79.50, while children pay €43.50. For groups of 10 or more, the ticket costs €76.

Programme:

• Reception at Quinta da Avessada: After arriving at Pinhão train station and being transferred by bus, visitors will be welcomed with popular music and can savour some of the region's most traditional delicacies, including the famous bread and meat cake.
• Harvest activity: Participants will be equipped with buckets and shears and introduced to the different grape varieties, the region's history and traditions related to the harvest.
• Regional lunch: The menu includes codfish fritters, various sausages, bread from the oven, rich vegetable soup, veal stewed in red wine, and regional sweets, fruit, and drinks, including water, wine and coffee.
• Afternoon activities: A visit to the wine presses and the traditional "treading", culminating in a tasting of Moscatel wine.
• Return: At the end of the day, you will return by bus to Régua Station, where the special train leaves for Porto Campanhã.
