More and more passengers are travelling on the Leixões Line since the service was reopened on 9 February 2025. Almost 51,000 people have used this line that connects Ovar and Leça do Balio stations via Porto Campanhã.
Of the 50,844 ticket validations, the new São João Hospital station has the highest demand (not considering Campanhã), with over 7,000 validations. The data also shows that the peak daily demand in this first month was close to 2,500 validations per working day. The most used tickets on this line are intermodal tickets.
‘CP has always believed that this line would be successful, as long as the two new stations, at the Hospital de São João and Arroteia, were intermodal connections,’ according to the Chair of CP's Board of Directors, Pedro Moreira, reiterating that he believes demand would exceed expectations in the first year.
