CP - Comboios de Portugal and Movijovem have signed a collaboration protocolas part of the "ANDA Conhecer Portugal" project, which reinforces CP's role in promoting sustainable youth mobility.
The programme offers young people unlimited train travel for seven days and six nights in the network of Youth Hostels, all free of charge. Its budget of €4 million in 2024 means ANDA is expected to cover students finishing secondary school in the academic years from 2022/2023 to 2024/2025.
Pre-registration has been available since 7 November on a dedicated platform. The programme starts on 8 January 2024.
At the protocol signing session, the Chairman of CP, Pedro Moreira, expressed his delight at this significant step, emphasising that "rail transport is asserting itself as the means of transport of the future, aligned with the values of sustainability and as a responsible way of travelling". Territorial cohesion creates opportunities for everyone and actively contributes to sustainable development. These were the key themes addressed in his speech, reflecting CP's vision and values. Finally, the Chairman thanked all those involved in the design of this project, confident that this initiative will open new doors and bring enriching experiences to Portuguese youth, fostering a more sustainable lifestyle.
It's worth remembering that 17 years ago, CP and Movijovem launched Intra-Rail together, a project that opened doors to new experiences for Portuguese youth. Now this partnership has been renewed with the same dedication and social commitment, focussing on the importance of giving young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, the chance to explore and connect with our country.
