Green Rail Pass

Clarification

Following the press release issued by the Workers' Committee of CP - Comboios de Portugal on 8 October, we would like to express our surprise and repudiation of the statements made about the Green Rail Pass, particularly those suggesting that this idea could have a significant negative impact on the company's finances.

Firstly, we don't understand what the Workers' Committee is basing such statements on. The figure of €18.9 million mentioned was rigorously calculated by CP's commercial and financial services, who worked dedicatedly to create this new pass, in accordance with the best standards of analysis and planning. It is unacceptable that the Workers' Committee should go public. disrespect and call into question the competence and professionalism of the workers, calling all those who dedicated themselves to this project with commitment and rigour, incompetent.

We recognise, as we always have, that CP needs more rolling stock, which is why we are carrying out the biggest train purchase in the company's history. However, the Workers' Committee seems to ignore one crucial fact: the availability of rolling stock is significantly greater today than it was three years ago, thanks to the effort and dedication of the workshops that have repaired and returned dozens of carriages and locomotives to the network. It is this daily effort, which the Workers' Committee is trying to devalue, that has allowed CP to reach the highest number of passengers in the last 25 years.

CP's mission, as a national public transport operator, is to promote sustainable mobility and territorial cohesion. The Green Rail Pass wil help us reinforce our commitment to green mobility, encouraging more and more citizens to opt for rail transport. The positive environmental impact of this endeavour benefits the whole country and contributes to a more sustainable future. We also want to emphasise that CP will be compensated by the state to provide this service, ensuring that this measure does not compromise the company's financial sustainability.

We strongly repudiate the statements made by the Workers' Committee, which are unfounded and reveal a profound lack of knowledge about CP's accounts and operations. The statements they made, in an attempt to discredit the implementation of the Green Rail Pass disregard the work of countless colleagues and convey an unfounded image of this administration's lack of professionalism and responsibility.

We cannot accept the Workers' Committee distorting reality and questioning the integrity of our workers and management, compromising CP's public image and mission, which is to promote quality, accessible and sustainable public transport for all citizens.
