Cascais Line

Changes to train service and replacement bus service

Due to engineering works, the route between Cascais and Oeiras is being served by a replacement bus service, stopping at Monte Estoril, Estoril, São João do Estoril, São Pedro do Estoril, Parede and Carcavelos stations. On the Cascais – Cais do Sodré route, there is no connection between buses and scheduled trains, except for the last train of the evening.

From 6 April, as the modernisation works progress, the works will focus on the section between Cascais and Oeiras.

During periods of total closure to traffic a replacement bus service is provided and stops at Monte Estoril, Estoril, São João do Estoril, São Pedro do Estoril, Parede, Carcavelos, Oeiras, Santo Amaro and Paço de Arcos.

The replacement bus service is provided on weekdays between 9.50 pm and 2.35 am the following day, on Saturdays between 8.50 pm and 2.35 am the following day, and on Sundays between 5.30 am and 8.40 am and between 7.50 pm and 2.35 am the following day. 

There will be no changes to train service during other periods.

On 29 March and 12 April (Sundays), train services between São Pedro do Estoril and Cascais will operate on a single track, resulting in changes to timetables and platforms.

- On the replacement bus service, journey times may vary depending on traffic conditions.

- On the Cascais – Cais do Sodré route, connections to scheduled trains at Oeiras station are not guaranteed, except for the last train of the evening.

- Bus stop locations can also be checked at Customer Assistance Desks and CP Ticket Offices.

- You must have a valid ticket when boarding the buses providing the replacement service.

- Validate your ticket at the validators located at the entrances to the replacement buses. Validation of all passes, season tickets and tickets is mandatory.

Buses operated by CP will be clearly marked and equipped with access ramps for passengers with reduced mobility.

Bicycles and scooters are not permitted on board.Small pets can be taken if they are in an appropriate container that can be carried as hand luggage.

Group tickets are not accepted on the replacement bus service.

Train times changes

Different train times will apply on these dates, with some trains starting and ending their journey at São Pedro do Estoril station.

Passengers travelling to São João do Estoril, Estoril, Monte Estoril and Cascais stations are advised to use trains bound for Cascais to avoid having to change trains at São Pedro do Estoril.


Changes to platforms

S. Pedro do Estoril Station

- Access to trains towards Cascais via Platform 1 – sea side

- Access to trains towards Cais do Sodré via Platorm 3 – central

São João do Estoril, Estoril and Monte Estoril Stations

- Access to trains via platform 1 only – sea side.
