Vouga Historical Train

A train journey through the history of the railway, between Aveiro and Macinhata do Vouga.

Travel back in time on this journey along the only narrow-gauge railway in operation in Portugal on one of the five carriages from the early years of the 20th century, hauled by the historic CP 9004 diesel locomotive. 

The Vouga Historical Train takes you from Aveiro to Macinhata do Vouga where you can visit the Macinhata do Vouga Railway Museum and enjoy the opportunity to visit the historic centre of Águeda on the return journey.

 

Outward journey

1:45 pm: Departure of the Vouga Historical Train from Aveiro Station:

  • Entertainment on board

14:59: Arrival at Macinhata do Vouga:

  • Reception with entertainment and/or music and a complimentary Águeda pastry
  • Market selling regional products where you can buy typical local goods
  • Guided tour of the Macinhata do Vouga Railway Museum with entertainment.

Return

16:38: Departure from Macinhata do Vouga.

17:00: Arrival in Águeda:

  • Start of the guided tour of the town of Águeda
  • Visit to the various urban art exhibitions that make up AgitÁgueda (only during the month of July).
  • Visit to the various initiatives scattered throughout the town of Águeda and an opportunity to appreciate the street art and the famous Umbrella Sky.

19:18: Departure from Águeda on the Vouga Historical Train bound for Aveiro.

20:07: Arrival at Aveiro Station.
