Environmental noise

Decree-Law No. 9/2007 of 17 January 2007, regulates environmental noise in Portugal to safeguard human health and people's well-being. It contains several provisions relating to municipal planning, limits for exposure to environmental noise and other rules that certain sources of noise must comply with. 

Under this legislation, CP, using an accredited testing laboratory, conducted environmental noise assessments at its maintenance and rolling stock depots. All the sites assessed met the nuisance criteria (Article 13(b)(1)) relating to permanent noisy activities.
