Social

Together, we go further.

2024 Missions

We support 62 entities, promoting the fight against poverty, social inclusion, and strengthening ties with communities.

The act of helping connects us to others, creating stronger communities and a happier society for everyone. And it’s not just about money – we can help with our time, gestures, ideas and energy.
CP shares some of its Social Responsibility projects, but it also shares the satisfaction of contributing to the well-being of People and the Planet.

In 2024, we supported 62 entities, publicising their activities on our internal and external communication channels, carrying out Corporate Volunteering activities, and organising the collection of goods and donations for several institutions and social entities.

We want to highlight the Associação Crescer, Terra dos Sonhos, the Portuguese League Against Cancer, Operação Nariz Vermelho, Corações com Coroa, CIG and Banco do Bebé.

We also promoted initiatives to support refugees and migrants, running awareness-raising activities for UNHCR and the Portuguese Refugee Centre and donating furniture to the Fundão Migration Centre.

Additionally, within the scope of external social responsibility, the initiative CP supported climate protection initiatives and efforts to promote the use of public transport among young people (Portugal Chama, Água é Vida, Liga Portuguesa da Natureza, IPDJ).

Actions to support animal welfare associations also continued, through regular donations of expired medicines.

In terms of civic engagement, we continued to support the community by promoting citizenship, specifically through initiatives such as providing trips for children and elderly individuals who benefit from social support, mental health projects, and professional mentoring and internship programs.

In 2024, we also reinforced our commitment to Customers with Specific Needs by improving access to our trains. We also organised the 14th Advisory Council with various entities that defend and help people with disabilities, signed a new agreement for the Advisor for Customers with Specific Needs and renewed the cooperation protocol with the Salvador Association.

Internally, we recognise the crucial role played by our approximately 3,871 employees, who are our main asset. We are committed to promoting a healthy working environment that prioritises the well-being and satisfaction of all team members.

To achieve this goal, we have implemented a diverse range of initiatives:

Agreements with benefits for employees

CP has a benefits and advantages plan for employees, which has a positive effect on the organisational climate. CP employees, along with their families in most cases, currently enjoy benefits resulting from 55 agreements with various entities in different areas and services.

Health

In the area of health, we held another edition of “CP Health Days” for employees, which this year featured several external speakers (anti-ageing, meditation and active ageing professionals) and testimonials from employees, thus broadening the range of topics covered. We held information sessions, cardiovascular screening and eye tests in partnership with pharmacies and opticians.

Environment

We also marked World Environment Day by reinforcing our commitment to sustainable management with a competition to reward employees with the most knowledge about recycling.

Summer Camp

To promote a better work-life balance, CP once again organised a summer camp for its employees’ children, and 94 children and young people attended.

Corporate Volunteering

The Corporate Volunteering Programme, launched in October 2024, has already attracted 113 employees, and we have defined an action plan for 2025 in various areas.

Christmas Solidarity

As is now traditional at CP, we once again launched a Christmas Tree competition among our employees, this year celebrating solidarity. The challenge consisted of decorating trees with items related to the selected cause and collecting goods for donation to it:

  • 870 kilograms of food;
  • 1,265 hygiene and cleaning products;
  • 1,143 items of clothing and footwear;
  • 300 toys;
  • 135 kilograms of pet products.
